1、 Staying in Azerbaijan
(1) Registration of place of stay
Foreign citizens who stay in the Republic of Azerbaijan for more than 15 days are required to register their place of stay. For this purpose, the management agency or reception party of the place of stay for foreign citizens (hotels, sanatoriums, resorts, camping sites for car travelers, hospitals or other similar places) shall submit a copy of their passport (or other travel documents) and a registration application form for the place of stay to the Azerbaijan State Immigration Service within 15 days from the date of entry of the foreign citizen into Azerbaijan, either through the website of the Azerbaijan State Immigration Service (www.migration. gov.az) or directly to the Azerbaijan State Immigration Service. Foreign citizens can also register themselves according to the above procedures or through the mobile app of the Immigration Department of the Republic of Azerbaijan (MigAz).
After receiving the application, the Azerbaijan National Immigration Service will enter the applicant's information into the immigration information system, register the place of stay, and notify the applicant within one working day.
Foreign citizens who come to Azerbaijan on visas should not stay in the Republic of Azerbaijan for more than the period indicated on the visa, while foreign citizens who come to Azerbaijan without a visa should not stay in Azerbaijan for more than 90 days, except as stipulated in international treaties of the Republic of Azerbaijan (note: according to the agreement on mutual exemption of official travel visas between China and Azerbaijan, the visa free stay in Azerbaijan for ordinary diplomatic, official, or service passports should not exceed 30 days).
When foreign citizens leave their place of stay, the host or the individual must inform the Azerbaijan State Immigration Service of this information. When foreign citizens change their place of stay, they should register the new place of stay according to the above procedures.
Attention: Foreign citizens do not need to pay any fees for registering their place of stay. Please keep the relevant materials properly.
(2) Extended stay in Azerbaijan
Foreign citizens who wish to extend their stay after entering the country should apply for a short-term stay extension at the State Immigration Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan before the visa expires. Generally speaking, the Azerbaijani side accepts extension applications for the following reasons: urgent medical treatment is required, close relatives are seriously ill or dead, scheduled business has not been completed, and situations of forced stay as stipulated in Article 19.4 of the Immigration Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan. In these cases, the short-term stay of foreign citizens in the Republic of Azerbaijan can be extended to 60 days upon their own or their legal representative's application.
In order to apply for short-term stay extension procedures, foreign citizens should go to the relevant law enforcement agencies and provide necessary documents 3 working days before the expiration of the stay period (excluding forced stay during transit). The materials required for applying for a short-term stay extension include:
- Application form (can be obtained on the website of the Azerbaijan State Immigration Service: www.migration.gov.az);
