air traffic

Bahrain is one of the aviation hubs in the Gulf region. Bahrain International Airport is located in Muharraq Province, about 15 kilometers away from the capital city of Manama. The new airport was completed and put into operation in early 2020, with an annual capacity of receiving 14 million passengers. There are 41 airlines operating here, with an average of more than 300 daily takeoffs and landings, making it one of the busiest airports in the Middle East. In 2023, the passenger volume at Bahrain International Airport was 8.7 million.

The state-owned airline of Bahrain is Gulf Air, which will open direct flights to Shanghai and Guangzhou in May 2024, with four Bahrain Shanghai and three Bahrain Guangzhou flights per week.

Bahrain has a small land area and no domestic flights.

land transport

Bahrain has a well-developed road network with four connections. In 2022, the total length of roads in Bahrain is 5273 kilometers, and the road conditions are good. The scale of urban public transportation is relatively small, with no rail transit or inter provincial public transportation, and the car rental business is active. Chinese citizens holding an international driver's license can rent a car and drive temporarily in Bahrain (not exceeding three months).

Bahrain is connected to Saudi Arabia through the Fahd King Bridge, which is currently the only land route in Bahrain.

water communication

Khalifa Port is the main commercial port in Bahrain, which was put into operation in April 2009 and has an annual throughput capacity of 1.1 million containers.

Currently, there are nearly 430 registered ships in Pakistan with a total tonnage of approximately 570000 tons.

There are no fixed international and domestic passenger ferry routes in Pakistan, but international cruise ships make stops.

Urban transportation

Bahrain vehicles drive on the right side. Mainly self driving cars and taxis, with a small number of public buses, but with fewer platforms and schedules. The starting price for taxis is 1 or 1.25 dinars, 0.2 or 0.25 dinars per kilometer (depending on the time period and holidays). Bahrain has a fast speed and frequent traffic accidents. Please strictly abide by the country's traffic regulations to ensure safety. There are few sidewalks, so crossing the road requires extra caution. The new traffic law, which came into effect on February 8, 2015, imposes stricter penalties for traffic violations: those who run red lights are sentenced to imprisonment for up to six months and fined between 100 and 500 dinars; Drivers who exceed the speed limit shall be sentenced to 1 to 6 months' imprisonment and fined 50 to 500 dinars.

major city

The capital city of Manama, which means "place of accommodation" in Arabic, is located in the northeast corner of Bahrain Island, covering an area of 25 square kilometers and has a population of 330000. It is the largest city in Bahrain. There are six to eight highways built around the city center. There are five-star hotels such as Sheraton, Hilton, Crowne Plaza, Bayfront, and Kempinski in the city. The northern district is home to government agencies, commercial areas, and hundreds of domestic and international banks and financial institutions. The western district is a shopping and commercial area, with large shopping centers such as "City Center", "Avenue Mall", "Seef Mall", and "Moda Mall". The southern district is a newly developed commercial and residential area as well as Salman Port.

Manama has complete infrastructure, developed transportation and convenient life, attracting a large number of domestic and foreign workers to work and live here; But due to the relatively dense population and vehicles, congestion often occurs during peak hours. The Arabic style and Western civilization complement each other, with ancient dwellings and modern architecture arranged in a staggered manner. Multiple religions such as Islam and Catholicism coexist, adding a unique charm to Manama.

Manama experiences hot and humid summers with occasional sandstorms; Cool and comfortable in winter; There is less rainfall throughout the year.

Commodity prices

The supply of goods is sufficient, and most of the goods are imported from abroad with high prices. The Central Market is located in the northwest district of Manama and serves as a wholesale and retail center for food and vegetables. There are many supermarkets in Bahrain, including Carrefour, LuLu, Jazeera, Alosra and other large chain supermarkets, among which Jazeera and Alosra have special non Muslim areas to sell pork products.

Alcoholic beverages are licensed and sold only in designated specialty stores, with higher tax rates.

Bahrain has multiple large shopping centers (City Center, Bahrain Mall, Dana Mall, etc.) with convenient transportation, complete goods and facilities, suitable for shopping and leisure.

Exchange rate comparison:

1 Bahraini Dinar ≈ 2.65 USD

1 Bahraini Dinar ≈ 18 Chinese Yuan

Large shopping malls and restaurants can be paid with international credit cards and US dollar cash.

medical treatment

There are numerous hospitals in Ba with comprehensive medical services.

The Pakistani government provides medical subsidies to its citizens and foreign residents. Public hospitals charge a registration fee of 7 dinars, and patients purchase medication according to their prescriptions. The hospital bears the cost of treatment, hospitalization, and other expenses; Most practicing doctors are foreigners. There are nearly 10 public hospitals in the country, including Salman Hospital, Defense Forces Hospital, King Hamad Hospital, and Muharraq General Hospital; 27 small public medical centers with over 2000 medical staff.

Private hospitals provide better services, but their fees are expensive. There are mainly: Royal Bahrain Hospital, American Mission Hosipital, Bahrain Specialist Hospital, and Al SALAM SPECIALIST HOSPITAL.

Customs taboos

Bahrain is a Muslim country that follows Islamic customs. Ba society is relatively open, and women can work and drive. There is no special dress code requirement for foreign personnel, but wearing shorts is prohibited in religious places such as mosques, and women should not wear them too revealing.

Communications Power

There are three telecommunications companies in Bahrain, namely Batelco, Viva, and Zain, with little difference in charges and lower mobile data fees. Internet access in Pakistan has developed rapidly in recent years, and public wireless network areas have increased year by year. Most low-end hotels have no room Internet access, while middle and high-end hotels provide wired or wireless Internet services, with different charges. Most apartments have wireless signal coverage or provide free wired internet service.

The mobile phone standard in Bahrain is GSM and does not support CDMA. Domestic mobile phones can directly access the network. Bahrain's major telecommunications operators charge lower fees for international long-distance calls to China. The method is as follows: dial landline: 0086 (China international area code)+domestic long-distance area code (such as 10 for Beijing, 20 for Guangzhou, 21 for Shanghai, etc.)+phone number; Dial mobile phone: 0086+domestic mobile phone number.

The voltage in Bahrain is 220V, and the power socket standard is British three-phase. Generally, Chinese appliances can be used normally in Ba after being equipped with a British plug converter.
