According to the agreement between the two countries, personnel holding diplomatic and official passports from China and Cambodia are allowed visa free entry for a stay of 30 days. Holders of Chinese ordinary passports and official ordinary passports must apply for visas before entering the country. The visa application process is as follows:
1、 Applying for a visa
(1) Visa on arrival. At airports and land ports, one can apply for a tourist visa (T visa, Tourist visa) and a regular visa (E visa) with a single entry or multiple entries of one, two, or three years, each with a stay of 30 days, Ordinary Visa)。 The visa fee is subject to the announcement made by the Cambodian side at the port.
(2) Cambodian Embassy in China applies for visa. Chinese citizens holding ordinary passports and official ordinary passports can also apply for tourist visas and ordinary visas that are valid for one entry, three months, and a stay of 30 days at the Cambodian Embassy or Consulate in China in advance. Starting from September 1, 2017, Chinese citizens can apply for a 1-year, 2-year, or 3-year multiple entry tourist visa and a regular visa at the Cambodian Embassy in China. The visa materials and fees shall be subject to the announcement of the Cambodian Embassy in China.
(3) Electronic tourist visa and electronic general visa. Chinese citizens must log in to www.evisa.gov.kh and follow the website instructions to apply. The application is valid for 90 days from the date of approval and can stay for 30 days after entry. The electronic ordinary visa can be extended for one year.
The required documents for electronic tourist visas and electronic ordinary visas include an electronic white background photo (size 3.5x4.5cm), a scanned copy of the applicant's original passport (passport valid for more than 6 months), and truthfully filling in the required information on the website.
(4) If you have already applied for a visa at the Cambodian Embassy in China or the above-mentioned electronic tourism and electronic ordinary visas before going to Cambodia, you do not need to apply for a visa on arrival at the port when entering Cambodia with your passport, visa, and pre filled immigration card to complete the entry procedures.
2、 Visa extension
Holders of a single entry tourist visa (T-visa) can only extend their stay for 30 days once upon entry. They must apply to the Cambodian Immigration Bureau within 15 days of entry and cannot change the visa type. After entering the country with a one-time entry business visa (E-visa), one can apply for a 3-month, six-month, or 1-year multiple entry business visa from the Cambodian Immigration Department on their own or through a local travel agency. The stay period of this visa is the same as the validity period of the visa.
3、 Entry and exit
When entering Cambodia, it is necessary to complete the immigration card in advance. Starting from June 1, 2019, Cambodia has implemented a new version of immigration cards at all its entry and exit ports. The original visa on arrival application form, entry card, and exit card have been merged into one, and the content required to be filled out in the original three cards has been optimized. Requirements for submitting ID photos have been cancelled, and the Chinese translation has been retained, greatly simplifying Cambodia's entry and exit customs clearance procedures. If Chinese citizens coming to Cambodia need to apply for a visa on arrival, they can fill out the card item by item in capital English letters according to the requirements, and then apply for it at the port of entry. Afterwards, they can use the card to handle the entry procedures, and there is no need to fill out other forms when leaving the country.
4、 Visa Types
Cambodia visa code:
Diplomatic visa (A visa): issued to diplomats of foreign diplomatic missions in Cambodia, their spouses, and minor children.
Official Visa (B Visa): Issued to foreign citizens carrying out official duties in Cambodia.
Business visa (E visa): issued to foreign citizens who come to Cambodia for short-term or long-term investment, business, labor, and other purposes.
Preferential Visa (C Visa): Issued to foreign citizens invited by the Cambodian government to visit Cambodia.
Tourist visa (T visa): issued to foreign citizens who come to Cambodia for tourism.
Long term residence visa (K visa): issued to Cambodian citizens holding foreign passports.
Free visa (G visa): issued to children under the age of 12.
5、 Special Reminder
After losing your passport, you need to apply for travel documents and a local exit visa. In addition to bearing certain costs, it will also delay your time and itinerary. Please take good care of your passport.
When the passport is not in use, it should be stored in a safe place that is fire-resistant, waterproof, anti-theft, and familiar to oneself. The holder should pay attention to checking the validity period of the passport and apply for a replacement passport if the validity period is less than 12 months.
Copy one copy of the passport information page and one copy of the valid visa page, and store them separately from the passport, in case the passport is lost and relevant information can be provided to the Chinese embassy or consulate in the local area as soon as possible.
Be careful not to leave your passport in the car or handbag when traveling, and carry it close to your body. When using a passport in public places, it is important to reduce the frequency of passport usage. When leaving, make sure your passport is properly placed.
Once the passport is lost, you should go to the embassy as soon as possible to handle the procedures for reissuing the passport.
Chinese citizens applying for a visa to China for the first time after obtaining foreign nationality must present their original Chinese passport. Therefore, after obtaining foreign nationality, one should still keep their original Chinese passport properly.
Do not use passports as collateral or substitutes.
When entering Cambodia, it is necessary to fill out a customs declaration form and hand it over to customs officials. There is no limit on the amount of US dollars or other foreign currencies brought into the country, but if it is equal to or exceeds 10000 US dollars, it must be declared. Otherwise, taxes will need to be paid when taking it out of the country.
According to Cambodian customs regulations, it is not allowed to carry cultural relics or timber raw materials out of the country. In the event of a global or regional outbreak of infectious diseases, Cambodian health officials will set up equipment checks at ports, and travelers to Cambodia will need to fill out health and epidemic prevention forms.
1、 Visa stay period
After entering the country with a business visa (E visa), one can apply for a six-month or one-year long-term residence visa from the Cambodian immigration office through a local travel agency. After entering the country with a tourist visa (T visa), the visa can only be extended for another month and the visa type cannot be changed. Upon expiration, one must leave the country.
2、 Apply for naturalization
The new version of the Cambodian Nationality Law officially came into effect on June 21, 2018, issued by the King. According to the law, the general practice for foreign citizens to obtain Cambodian nationality is:

Cambodia's risk level is blue (low risk)
There are many labor disputes involving Chinese citizens in Cambodia, and many of the parties involved have not signed corresponding labor contracts when they come to Cambodia for work. Some casually trust verbal promises from friends, acquaintances, or fellow villagers, while others easily pay thousands of yuan in intermediary fees to others in China and are subcontracted layer by layer after arriving in Cambodia, which easily leads to disputes and makes it difficult to effectively protect personal rights and interests. Chinese citizens must come to Cambodia for work through formal channels and choose legal intermediaries who have been approved by the domestic commerce department and have the qualifications for overseas labor services to work in Cambodia. Do not blindly rely on illegal intermediaries or others to introduce you to work. Both labor and management should sign a formal written contract to protect the rights and interests of both parties in accordance with the law. If there is a labor dispute, both parties should actively negotiate or resolve it through judicial channels, and protect their rights rationally in accordance with the law.
Cambodian online gambling companies often recruit workers under the guise of high salaries for "typists", "network technicians", "online customer service", "online promotion", etc. Chinese citizens should remain vigilant and not easily trust online advertisements or introductions from acquaintances. Before applying, they should comprehensively and thoroughly understand the specific information such as the qualifications, nature of business, and responsible person of the recruiting unit.
The overall political situation in Cambodia is stable, and social security is gradually improving. However, cases of theft, robbery, fraud, etc. occur from time to time (especially frequent motorcycle theft incidents). When going out for business or tourism, it is best to take a taxi. When walking on the roadside, one should stay away from motorcyclists. When waiting or riding a motorcycle, one should pay attention to keeping their money, belongings, passport, etc. safe to avoid theft. If you need to go out at night, you should travel together.
The gambling industry in Cambodia is a legal industry, but according to Chinese law, Chinese citizens' participation, engagement in the gambling industry, and providing convenience for gambling activities are all violations of Chinese law. On August 18, 2019, Prime Minister Hun Sen of the Royal Government of Cambodia issued a notice to cease the approval and processing of "online gambling" business licenses operating in Cambodia. Chinese citizens in Cambodia, please be vigilant and do not participate in gambling.
Cambodia has no natural disasters such as earthquakes, tsunamis, typhoons, etc. The rainy season in Cambodia is from May to October every year, and the weather changes greatly. Before participating in water related activities, it is necessary to check the weather forecast and official warnings in advance.
There are many restaurants in Cambodia, mostly in the form of roadside stalls, and hygiene conditions are difficult to guarantee. It is recommended to avoid dining at roadside stalls as much as possible.
There are many formal restaurants in major cities such as Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, and Sihanoukville, with various levels of restaurants and eateries lining up, and the hygiene conditions are basically qualified.

The total length of national highways is about 45000 kilometers. There are four main highways: Highway 1 (from Phnom Penh to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam), Highway 4 (from Phnom Penh to Sihanoukville Port), Highway 5 (from Phnom Penh to the Thai border via Battambang), and Highway 6 (from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap Angkor Wat). The first highway in Cambodia, the Phnom Penh Xigang Expressway, invested and constructed by the Chinese side, has been completed and opened to traffic in 2022.
The main transportation routes in Cambodia are concentrated in the central plains and the Tonle Sap Lake basin. The transportation in the northern and southern mountainous areas is blocked. There are long-distance bus operations between major cities. The local roads are narrow, the road conditions are poor, the public's awareness of traffic safety is weak, and traffic accidents are frequent.
Renting a car in Cambodia is relatively convenient, but a driver is required. Foreigners driving in Cambodia need to hold a local driver's license. Unless approved by the competent authorities in Cambodia, foreign registered vehicles are generally not allowed to operate in Cambodia.
There are two railways in the country: Phnom Penh Poipet, with a total length of 385 kilometers and connecting to Bangkok, and Phnom Penh Sihanoukville, with a total length of 270 kilometers
Cambodia's inland waterway transportation is mainly based on the Mekong River and Tonle Sap Lake, with major river ports including Phnom Penh, Kampong Cham, and Kampong Chhnang. During the rainy season, a 4000 ton ship can travel upstream along the Mekong River to Phnom Penh, while during the dry season, a 2000 ton cargo ship can be navigable. There are passenger ships operating between Phnom Penh and Siem Reap. Sihanouk Port is an international port.
The main modes of transportation in various cities in Cambodia are taxis, tricycles, and motorcycles. At present, major cities such as Phnom Penh and Siem Reap have mobile apps (Passapp, Grab, etc.) that provide ride hailing services.
1、 Phnom Penh City
Phnom Penh is the capital of the Kingdom of Cambodia, located on the central plain of Cambodia, at the confluence of the Mekong, Tonle Sap, and Bassa rivers. It covers an area of 289 square kilometers and has a population of 2.28 million. Since 1434, it has been the capital of Cambodia and serves as the political, economic, and cultural center of the country. It is also a hub for domestic and international aviation and water and land transportation.
2、 Sihanouk City
Sihanouk City, formerly known as Pangson City, is located in southern Cambodia, facing the Gulf of Thailand to the west and about 240 kilometers from Phnom Penh. It has the only international seaport in Cambodia. The city has a humid climate and famous beaches, making it a famous vacation destination in Cambodia.
3、 Siem Reap City
Siem Reap is located in the northwest of Cambodia, 314 kilometers away from Phnom Penh, with a population of 135000. The city is rich in cultural relics and tourism resources, with a total of 292 ancient temples. The famous Angkor Wat site, listed as one of the Seven Wonders of the World by UNESCO, is located 6 kilometers north of Siem Reap. The largest freshwater lake in the Indochinese Peninsula, Tonle Sap Lake, is located at the southern end of the city. Tourism, agriculture, and fishing are the pillar industries of the city.
Cambodia's manufacturing and processing industry is backward, and most daily consumer goods and food need to be imported from abroad. Generally, the prices of daily consumer goods and food are relatively high.
The legal currency of Cambodia is the Riel, and the US dollar can circulate freely. One dollar is approximately equal to 4000 riels. Daily purchases and sales of goods are often paid in cash in US dollars.
Common diseases in Cambodia include hepatitis, tuberculosis, dengue fever, malaria, typhoid fever, acute diarrhea, etc. The local medical conditions are limited, there are not many varieties of drugs, and the prices are relatively expensive. The medical insurance business is still in its infancy. If you plan to stay or travel to Cambodia for a short period of time, you should pay attention to food hygiene. Before coming to Cambodia, you can bring a small amount of daily essential medicines and drugs for preventing mosquito bites.
1、 Buddhism
Buddhism is the national religion of Cambodia, with Buddhists accounting for more than 85% of the national population, and the vast majority of them believe in Theravada Buddhism. Temples are spread throughout the country, and monk kings and monks are generally respected. Usually, men, regardless of their social status, must become ordained once in their lifetime. When visiting a Buddhist temple, one should dress neatly and take off their hat and shoes. Do not touch others' heads with your hands. The nationwide practice of the "Ten Fold Ceremony" involves merging two palms, standing in front of the chest, slightly bowing, and adjusting the height of the fingertips according to the opponent's identity. The higher the opponent's identity, the higher the fingertip height. Shaking hands is also performed in social situations.
2、 Housing
Traditional Cambodian houses are mostly bamboo and wooden structures with high legs, about two meters above the ground, where people live on top and livestock, miscellaneous items, or vehicles are tied up on the bottom. Urban buildings have various styles.
3、 Clothing
Cambodians usually dress plainly, with many barefoot or wearing slippers, but formal social occasions are more particular, mostly wearing suits or formal ethnic clothing. The traditional costumes of Cambodian ethnic groups mainly include: sarongs, tube skirts, phoenix tail skirts, water cloth, etc.
4、 Food
Cambodian people mainly eat rice and enjoy spicy foods such as chili peppers, onions, ginger, garlic, mint, as well as lettuce and pickled fish. Use chopsticks or knives and forks more during meals, and in rural areas, it is customary to grab rice by hand or eat cross legged on the ground.
5、 Festivals
In addition to international festivals, the main festivals are Cambodian New Year (mid April), Royal Farming Day (at the end of April or early May, the king, queen or prince, princess sowed in the symbolic farmland in Wangjiatian to pray for good weather and bumper harvest), the king's birthday (May 14), the Day of the Dead (late September, worship ancestors), Constitutionalism Day (September 24), Paris Agreement Day (October 23), Independence Day (November 9), Water Delivery Day (late October or early November, marking the end of the rainy season, Loong Boat racing, moon worship, and praying for a bumper harvest in the coming year).
