【 Overview 】 Located at the southernmost point of the Windward Islands in the Eastern Caribbean Sea, about 160 kilometers south of the coast of Venezuela. It belongs to a tropical maritime climate, with the dry season from January to May and the rainy season from June to December. The weather is relatively hot from August to November, with a maximum temperature of 35 ℃. From December to March of the following year, the weather is relatively cool with a minimum temperature of 18 ℃. The annual average temperature is 26 ℃.
Originally inhabited by Native Americans. Discovered by Columbus in 1498, annexed by France in 1650, and occupied by England in 1762. In 1763, France transferred its territory to England under the Treaty of Paris, and in 1779, it was reoccupied by France. In 1783, it was officially recognized as British under the Treaty of Versailles and became a British colony thereafter. On February 7, 1974, it declared independence and joined the United Nations in the same year. The judicial system includes the Supreme Court and local courts. The Supreme Court includes the High Court and the Court of Appeal. After joining the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States in 1991, its judicial power was transferred to the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court, but the final appellate body was the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council in the United Kingdom.
