【 Overview 】 Located at the southernmost point of the Windward Islands in the Eastern Caribbean Sea, about 160 kilometers south of the coast of Venezuela. It belongs to a tropical maritime climate, with the dry season from January to May and the rainy season from June to December. The weather is relatively hot from August to November, with a maximum temperature of 35 ℃. From December to March of the following year, the weather is relatively cool with a minimum temperature of 18 ℃. The annual average temperature is 26 ℃.

Originally inhabited by Native Americans. Discovered by Columbus in 1498, annexed by France in 1650, and occupied by England in 1762. In 1763, France transferred its territory to England under the Treaty of Paris, and in 1779, it was reoccupied by France. In 1783, it was officially recognized as British under the Treaty of Versailles and became a British colony thereafter. On February 7, 1974, it declared independence and joined the United Nations in the same year. In March 1979, the "New Gem Movement" launched a military coup and established the People's Revolutionary Government, with Bi Xiaopu serving as the Prime Minister. The current Constitution came into effect upon independence in 1974. The implementation was suspended on March 13, 1979 due to internal turmoil. It resumed implementation on January 1, 1984.

The parliament is divided into two houses: the Senate and the House of Representatives. The current parliament was formed in August 2022 and serves a term of 5 years. The judicial system includes the Supreme Court and local courts. The Supreme Court includes the High Court and the Court of Appeal. After joining the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States in 1991, its judicial power was transferred to the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court, but the final appellate body was the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council in the United Kingdom.

Main political parties:

(1) National Democratic Congress: The ruling party. Established in October 1987, it was formed by the merger of some members of the New National Party, the Democratic Labour Congress, and the Grenada Democratic Labour Party. Won elections in 1990, 2008, and 2022. On March 5, 2023, the National Democratic Congress Party elected a new National Executive Committee, with current leader Dikang Mitchell and deputy leader Joseph Andel.

(2) New National Party: The opposition party. After its establishment in August 1984, it won six general elections (1984, 1995, 1999, 2003, 2013, 2018) and formed a government. Current leader Keith Mitchell and deputy leader Gregory Bowen.

[Important Person] Cecil Ragnar: Governor. Female, born in 1952. I have studied at the University of the West Indies and the University of Maryland in the United States, and obtained a PhD in Chemistry. Engaged in long-term food science research work. On May 7, 2013, she was appointed as the Governor General of Grenada, becoming the first female Governor General in Grenada's history.

Dickon Mitchell: Prime Minister. Born on October 8, 1977 in Grenada, he studied at the University of the West Indies and obtained a Bachelor's degree in Law. I mainly worked as a lawyer from 2002 to 2022. In November 2021, he was elected as the political leader of the National Democratic Congress Party. In June 2022, he led the National Democratic Congress Party to victory in the general election and became the Prime Minister.

Industry is underdeveloped, mainly consisting of small-scale processing and manufacturing industries such as agricultural product processing, food, beverages, textiles, and light assembly.

Agriculture mainly cultivates nutmeg, bananas, cocoa, coconuts, sugarcane, etc. Known as the "land of spices", it was once the world's second-largest producer of nutmeg, accounting for one-third of the world's total nutmeg production.

Tourism is an important sector of the economy. In 2020, it will be greatly impacted by the COVID-19.
