public security

In recent years, Liberia's economic development has been poor, and the social security situation is worrying. Criminal cases such as robbery and theft have occurred from time to time. Citizens should pay attention to their own safety, strengthen safety precautions, travel together as much as possible, avoid traveling alone and at night, especially avoid going to remote areas, and pay attention to safety when walking and playing on the beach; Don't gamble, don't go to night entertainment venues, and don't let strangers in at night. Do not carry large amounts of cash with you and do not store large amounts of cash at home to ensure personal and property safety. natural disaster

Li has a tropical monsoon climate with an average annual temperature of 25 ℃, divided into two seasons: dry season and rainy season. The rainy season is from May to October, with a maximum rainfall of 5000 millimeters. Rain often accompanies thunderstorms, and going out in the rain can be dangerous. During the rainy season, roads in mountainous and forested areas are prone to geological disasters. It is important to take timely shelter from rain and avoid risks.

FDA

The domestic environmental sanitation is poor. There is tap water supply in some areas of the capital, which can be boiled and consumed. To prevent infectious diseases, be careful not to drink raw water, eat raw mixed foods, and undercooked foods. The food hygiene conditions at the stall are poor, it is recommended not to purchase. air traffic

Monrovia Roberts International Airport is currently the largest civilian airport in Liberia. The airport is about 57 kilometers away from the city center, and round-trip transportation mainly relies on taxis. Most taxis are second-hand cars that charge by seat, with each seat costing around $25 from the airport to the city center. You can rent a taxi, which costs at least 5 people per car and is approximately $125-150.

There are no direct flights between China and Liberia, and a transfer through a third place is required. Foreign airlines and flight routes include: Brussels Airlines (Monrovia Brussels Beijing), Ethiopian Airlines (Monrovia Accra Addis Ababa Beijing, Guangzhou, Hangzhou), Kenya Airways (Monrovia Accra Nairobi Guangzhou), and Moroccan Airlines to Qatar Airways (Monrovia Casablanca Doha Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chongqing).

land transport

Transportation mainly relies on cars, and currently there is no railway passenger transport.

Except for the capital, most of the roads connecting various states are gravel and dirt roads, and the road conditions are poor during the rainy season. Left hand drive of the car. There are basically no traffic lights on roads outside the capital area, so special attention should be paid when crossing intersections. Chinese driver's license cannot be used locally, and a local driver's license must be applied for.

water communication

The National Port Authority oversees four ports: Monrovia, Buchanan, Greenville, and Harper. Among them, Monrovia Freeport is the largest port in Liberia, and the vast majority of goods are imported and exported through this port. Currently, only the Freeport of Monrovia has cruise ships docked.

Urban transportation

There are few buses, slow speed, and very crowded. There are self operated motorcycles, taxis, and minibuses. The price of motorcycles is slightly higher, about 40 ringgit per kilometer. Taxi seat sharing costs 25-30 ringgit per person per kilometer. You can rent a car, which costs about 60-80 US dollars per day; Jeep costs $80-100 per day; The daily price of the minibus is 150-200 US dollars, and the price is negotiable. The other party provides a driver and bears the cost of fuel themselves. If you plan to live locally for a long time, it is best to buy your own car.

major city

Monrovia is the capital and the state capital of Montserrat, located on the western coast of the Atlantic coast of Africa, at Cape Mesurado and Bushrod Island. Located at the mouth of the S ã o Paulo River, it is an important gateway to the sea in West Africa and the closest port city to the South American continent in Africa. The population is 1.3 million. Tropical monsoon climate with an average annual temperature of 25 ℃, divided into dry and rainy seasons, with an average annual precipitation of over 5000 millimeters. It is one of the regions with the highest rainfall on the West African coast and even globally, known as the "Rainy Capital of the World".

Commodity prices

Liberia's main products include rubber, oil palm, cassava, rice, coffee, cocoa beans, mangoes, fish, etc. Some areas have cattle, goats, and broiler farming. All kinds of poultry, meat, eggs, and rice still need to be imported. The manufacturing industry is backward, and various production tools, machinery and equipment, daily electrical appliances, clothing, shoes, socks and other daily necessities are basically dependent on imports. Materials are scarce, expensive, and living expenses are high, with prices generally 5 to 10 times higher than in China. Both Liyuan and USD can freely circulate and exchange in the market. The exchange rate between Liyuan and the US dollar fluctuates around 170:1. Small transactions use cash, while large transactions use checks.

In terms of tariffs, there are also differences in tariffs for different products, which can be logged in http://lr.mofcom.gov.cn/ perhaps http://investliberia.gov.lr/new/ Website search.

The main banks include ECOBANK (West African Bank), IB (International Bank), UBA Bank (African Union Bank), LBDI (Liberia Development and Investment Bank), etc., all of which can conduct international exchange business.

Special reminder: Except for Roberts International Airport, there are very few ATMs in other places. Do not hold a large amount of local currency to prevent exchange losses.

Insurance Medical

The domestic environmental sanitation is poor, medical conditions are backward, and there is a serious shortage of medical care and medicine. Malaria, cholera, typhoid fever, and hepatitis are common and infectious diseases in the local area. The mortality rate of malaria, especially cerebral malaria, is high. Mango fly eggs can cause special skin diseases, and Lhasa fever transmitted by rodents also has a tendency to spread. It is not recommended for people who are older or suffer from chronic diseases such as cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases to benefit their daily life and work. Local hospitals can only provide simple and basic diagnosis and treatment services. If a patient is seriously ill or requires surgical treatment, they need to be transferred to a third country for treatment.

Monrovia mainly has JFK Medical Center (public), Redemption Hospital (public), and St Joseph Catholic Hospital (private) and other comprehensive hospitals have average facilities. You can also contact Mercy International Medical Center (Dr. Zhai: 0886304158 or 0770551818), Angel Medical Center (Dr. Sun: 0770478966 or 0880190873), or Aspen Medical Liberia (phone: 0770911913, email: esey@aspenhcs.com )Waiting for medical treatment. Admission for medical treatment requires registration, and medication can be purchased at the hospital pharmacy according to the doctor's prescription. There are many patients seeking medical treatment locally, so it is important to be patient and wait in line for registration. I have a medical team in the capital city of Liberia that can receive treatment there. My contact number for the aid medical team is 0777976034. Outside of Monrovia, the medical conditions and sanitation environment are even worse, and there are basically no epidemic prevention measures. China has assisted in the construction of Tapeta Hospital in Liningba Prefecture.

Suggest bringing some antibiotics, anti malaria drugs, Lianhua Qingwen Plague and other commonly used drugs from China. If you feel unwell, go to the hospital for examination and treatment in a timely manner.

Special reminder: To prevent infectious diseases, do not drink raw water, eat raw mixed and undercooked food. The hygiene conditions of stall food are poor, and it is recommended not to purchase. It is best to dine out in a restaurant and drink bottled water sold in supermarkets. Wash hands frequently, prevent mosquito bites, and try not to hang clothes outdoors. If drying outdoors, use an electric iron to carefully iron clothes, thoroughly kill mango fly eggs, pay attention to rodent control, and maintain a clean living environment.

Customs taboos

Implementing a policy of religious freedom, approximately 86% of the population in China adheres to Christianity, 12% to Islam, and 2% to local religions.

In social situations, Liberians have a special way of shaking hands with guests. After a normal handshake, the thumbs, index fingers, and middle fingers of both parties wrap around each other and make a sound; When family and friends meet, it is customary to give a hug; You can also give face gifts when meeting ladies. The traditional cultural customs of Africa are rich, and when important guests visit, local tribal chiefs will come forward to greet them, arrange dance performances, and the emcee can present roosters and rice to guests to express blessings; For departing guests, Liberians often give traditional robes and confer honorary chieftain titles as a token of gratitude and blessings.

Sunday is the time for church services, and the public usually does not work. It is also best not to schedule social activities on Sundays. Regardless of whether it is a formal or informal banquet, toasting is necessary. The dietary habits of the people are mainly based on traditional African cuisine, with a preference for rice, chicken, beef, mutton, and fish. Communications Power

The Internet penetration rate is not high, and the local people often use mobile phones to access the Internet, with poor stability. The mobile phone standard is GSM. Chinese made mobile phones can be used directly.

The voltage is 220 volts. The plug standard is generally flat diagonal three legged or flat two legged. There is a shortage of municipal power supply, frequent power outages, and hotels and restaurants generally have generators on standby.

Before dialing a Liberia phone number domestically, the international area code 00231 should be added first. Direct dialing is allowed from Liberia to China or any other country. The method of dialing a domestic landline phone is: 0086 (China international area code)+domestic long-distance area code (such as 10 for Beijing, 21 for Shanghai, etc.)+phone number; Dial domestic mobile phone: 0086+domestic mobile phone number.

Special reminder: Li does not have a landline phone, and all contacts are made through mobile phones. There is no phone number inquiry service, and mobile phone numbers are easy to change.
