Customs taboos

Romanians mainly believe in Eastern Orthodoxy.

Main holidays: New Year (January 1st), Easter (April), National Day (December 1st), Christmas (December 25th).

Romanians are descendants of Romans and Dacians, warm, generous, easy-going, and enjoy making friends. They like to be straightforward when talking. Respect the ladies, let the ladies take the lead when the men enter or board the car. It is common for relatives and friends to embrace and stick together when meeting. When invited as a guest, it is necessary to send flowers to the lady. The total number of flowers given should be an odd number, but not 13.

Romanians consider salt and bread as essential foods in their daily lives. The most solemn etiquette when guests arrive is for the host girl to hold a plate and bring bread and salt to the guests. The guests need to dip a piece of bread in salt and taste it. Breakfast is relatively simple, but dinner is highly valued, emphasizing quality and quantity.

Romanians are good at singing and dancing. They often dance gracefully during gatherings, dinners, and weddings with friends. Some restaurants arrange folk song and dance performances for guests during their meals. When dining at a restaurant or taking a taxi, a tip of about 10% is usually added.

Romanian ethnic clothing has a distinct and unique artistic style. The clothing styles are diverse, with bright colors and embroidered lace. Most men in certain regions prefer to wear white pants that are as long as their calves, with the legs tucked into black boots.

Romanians mainly consume meat and dairy products in their diet, with limited intake of vegetables and legumes. Regard dogs as good friends of humans and avoid eating dog meat.

Main taboos: Romanians do not like to ride in cars or indoors, and generally do not open the windows on both sides to allow air circulation, believing that this will make people sick. Men do not wear black ties except during mourning periods.
