Visa Entry

Chinese citizens holding diplomatic, official, or ordinary passports of the People's Republic of China, or Hong Kong and Macao SAR passports, are eligible for visa free entry and stay in San Marino for 90 days. Due to the lack of an airport or port in San Marino, entry must be made through Italy, therefore a Schengen visa is required to travel to San Marino.

Residency and Naturalization

1、 Residence

San Marino is strict in examining and issuing residence permits for foreigners. The validity period of residence varies from 3 months to 12 months, and can be renewed according to relevant requirements. The competent department is the Foreigners Administration of the Saint Gendarmerie.

2、 Naturalization

According to San Marino law, if both parents or adoptive parents are Holy citizens, their children can directly obtain Holy citizenship. If one of the parents or adoptive parents is a Holy Citizen, they must apply to retain their Holy citizenship after reaching the age of 18.

Foreign citizens or stateless individuals who meet the following criteria may apply to obtain citizenship:

1、 One of the parents or grandparents has resided in San Marino for more than 30 years, and the individual has been residing in San Marino since birth.

2、 Residing in San Marino for more than 30 years, or residing in San Marino for more than 15 years after marrying a Saint citizen.

3、 Cohabiting children of naturalized foreigners.

4、 Individuals who are stateless and have no criminal record within the past year.
